Those of us who were fortunate enough to know and work with
Shelly Floyd, mourn his recent passing. Shelly was the first Assistant
Director/Principal of the Brown School. He worked so closely with Martha
Ellison as an amazing team to begin a totally new school from scratch in 1972
until our move to First Street. We missed him then when he went on from Brown
to be a Principal in JCPS. We will always remember him dearly for his
calm and easy going disciplinary form as he personally looked for the best in

Floyd, Shelley Thomas,
73, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016.
He was a member of First Congregational Methodist Church, Kentucky Colonel,
Alpha Phi Alpha, Fraternity, and retired Principal with JCPS.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Rutledge Floyd; children, Kevin L. Floyd Sr.
and Shannon R. Floyd; siblings, Wallace N. Floyd, and Roderick Cockrell;
grandchildren, Kevin L. Floyd Jr., Kaelin M. Dickerson, and Isaiah T. Floyd;
great-grandson, Kamden L. Floyd, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and
Visitation: 10am -12pm Friday at First Congregational Methodist Church, 3810
Garland Ave, with the funeral service to follow at 12pm.Burial in Calvary
